What Religious Science Is.....
Religious Science was founded in 1926 by Dr. Ernest Holmes. It exists to facilitate the reawakening of each individual's awareness of the higher self.
We recognize that each individual is on a path to his own fulfillment and must be guided by his own inner voice. We offer practical and definite methods with which each individual can become aware of his own unique spiritual identity, and create positive life changes.
The teachings of Religious Science are based on the teachings of Dr. Holmes, whose classic book, "The Science of Mind" was first published in 1926. These teachings are called the Science of Mind.
Dr. Holmes described this teaching as "a correlation of the laws of science, opinions of philosophy, and revelations of religion applied to human needs and the aspirations of all."
Religious Science, then, is a science, a religion, a philosophy.....and a way of life.
As a science, Religious Science uses specific principles consistent with the discoveries of the great scientists of the world. You learn to apply spiritual and psychological techniques in a scientific manner to expand your thinking, and as a result, your experiences.
As a philosophy, Religious Science is a down to earth, easily applied, and practical way of thinking about the nature of the universe and your relationship to it. As you come to understand yourself as an individual connected to a loving spiritual presence, you are free to express the unlimited potential within you.
As a religion, Religious Science is a metphysical expression of universal truths. It is free of dogma and superstition and is straightforward in its approach to life, using reason, logic, and an appreciation of the mystical. As a teaching of mind and of heart, it is a teaching for modern people in a modern world.
As a way of life, Religious Science is the practical application of spiritual principles to heal and enrich your life. It is a way to be empowered, change your life, live positively, feel deeply, and know the power, presence, and love of Spirit in daily life.
Religious Science is an open system of thought that continually grows as humankind evolves, drawing on the frontiers of knowledge as well as the wisdom of the ages.
This positive, practical, and life-affirming teaching is recognized as part of the New Thought movement.
What Religious Science Is NOT....
Religious Science is not Scientology.
Religious Science is not Christian Science.
Religious Science is not a hierarchy of priests and rituals, seeking converts.
Religious Science is not a cult, because individual freedom is cherished.
Religious Science is not based on guilt, anger, fear, or hurt; it is a journey toward the love that is Spirit or God.
Religious Science is not about doom and gloom visions of the future.
Religious Science is not allegiance to just one master teacher; it is learning from many spiritual teachers.
Religious Science is not in opposition to any religious belief or philosophy. Rather, it seeks to bring to light the thread of Truth which exists in all religions.
Religious Science is not just humans doing, it is humans being.
What is the Science of Mind?
The Science of Mind is the science of spiritual psychology..."There is a power in the universe greater than we are, and we can use it". The nature of this power, the way it works and how we can use use it to create the kind of life we desire, is the Science of Mind teaching, as presented in the book of the same name written by our founder Dr. Ernest Holmes.
The Science of Mind teaching is summed up in the first four chapters of that book, namely:
"The Thing Itself" (Spirit/God/Divine Intelligence);
"The Way It Works" ( it works for us by working through us);
"What It Does" (gives to all alike through the operation of a law activated by our thoughts and beliefs); and
"How To Use It" ( use it consciously, intentionally, and scientifically through affirmative prayer, or "Spiritual Mind Treatment").
Thus, The Science of Mind, while addressing ultimate questions about the nature of God and of humanity, is a philosophy for all people everywhere and is studied as avidly by those who profess no specific religion as it is by others who are actively involved in other faiths, and churches of many denominations.
Health, abundance, security, love, peace, and happiness are regarded as the natural state of every person, and therefore within the grasp of all who apply the spiritual principals which The Science of Mind explains.
