July 2009 Theme:

 “Soular” Power

As the summer sun continues to heat up the Tampa Bay area with its solar power, we will spend the month of July exploring the idea of our “Soular” Power, the power of the Ever-Present Spirit that lives within each of us. This month we will tap into “the energy by which everything lives” (to quote Ernest Holmes) that is found deep within our souls.

July 5th, “Power v. Force”

Inspired by the book of the same name by Dr. David Hawkins, today we will explore the difference between connecting with the power inherent within our souls and. forcing the world to be as we think it should.

July 12th, “Power in Asking – Permission Granted

In the Ancient Scripture we read, “ask and you shall receive.”  We’ve all heard that before, and we may have interpreted it to mean beg God in prayer.  Today, we will deepen our understanding of asking and see how the act of asking opens up a place of allowing within us, thereby activating the energy of creation.

July 19th, “Power Attitudes”

Wayne Dyer in his book, “The Power of Intention,” gives a portrait of a person connected to the field of intention.  This person has six powerful attitudes that enable him or her to align with the pure potentiality available to all.  Today, you will learn how to be one of those people.

July 26th, “The Power of  Forgiveness”

Alexander Pope once said, "To err is human; to forgive, Divine." Believe it!

Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. It is not something you do FOR someone else. Forgiveness is an act of the imagination. It dares you to imagine a better future, one that is based on the blessed possibility that your hurt will not be the final word on the matter. It challenges you to give up your destructive thoughts about the situation and to believe in the possibility of a better future.

Thoughts To Ponder...

 Awakening to Change
Being Aware is the First Step

Life is a journey comprised of many steps on our personal path that takes us down a winding road of constant evolution. And each day, we are provided with a myriad of opportunities that can allow us to transform into our next best selves. One moment we are presented with an opportunity to react differently when yet another someone in our life rubs us the wrong way; on another day we may find ourselves wanting to walk away from a particular circumstance but are not sure if we can. Eventually, we may find ourselves stuck in a rut that we can never seem to get out of. We may even make the same choices over and over again because we don’t know how to choose otherwise. Rather than moving us forward, our personal paths may take us in a seemingly never-ending circle where our actions and choices lead us nowhere but where we’ve already been. It is during these moments that awareness can be the first step to change.

Awareness is when we are able to realize what we are doing. We observe ourselves, noticing our actions, reactions, and choices as if we were a detached viewer. Awareness is the first step to change because we can’t make a change unless we are aware that one needs to be made. We can then begin understanding why we are doing what we are doing. Afterward, it becomes difficult not to change because we are no longer asleep to the truth behind our behaviors. We also begin to realize that, just as much as we are the root source behind the causes for our behaviors, we are also the originator for any changes that we want to happen.

There is a freedom that comes with awareness. Rather than thinking that we are stuck in a repetitive cycle from which there is no escape, we begin to see that we very much play a hand in creating our lives. Whether we are aware of them or not, our behaviors and choices are always ours to make. Our past no longer has to dictate our future when we choose to be aware. We are then free to move beyond our old limits, make new choices, and take new actions. With awareness, our paths can’t help but wind us forward in our lives while paving the way for new experiences and new ways of being. It is through awareness that we continue to consciously evolve.

Community Service Ministry

Each month our Community Service Ministry supports the fine work of our community service agencies by collecting needed items to donate in support of their work.

We continue to collect items for distribution to the needy and homeless in our community. Clothing, toiletries, household items, and personal care items, as well as non-perishable foods, are much needed during these challenging economic times, and are greatly appreciated!

Items may be left in our collection area at the Center each Sunday. We encourage you to give generously by bringing something with you to contribute each week....for "As you give, so shall you receive"!

 Thanks for your generosity!!
